The store was basically a warehouse of alcoholic beverages. They carry over 8,000 different wines, 2,000 different spirits, and over 1,000 different beers. When someone pictures a retail store like a warehouse they might think of something like the Sports Authority where no one will help you, and if they do actually offer to help, you soon realize that you were better off by yourself. That didn’t look to be the case at all at this place. In almost every aisle there was an information booth with someone to assist you. In fact, it was almost a nuisance because I wanted to take some pictures and knew from prior experience that these places don’t appreciate it when you start snapping.
Once I got my bearings, I started my search for the Argentine wine. My mission was to find two bottles – a white and a red – for around $10. The wine was organized by varietals and by region. The regions did not include Argentina, which was a little disappointing, but I think they figured that they made up for it with having a section only for Malbec (see picture). On their website, they list 63 different types of wine from Argentina and 28 different Malbecs.
I ended up buying a Pascual Toso Malbec and a Phebus Chardonnay. Both of them were about $9. ¡Que rico!

La semana pasada fui con algunos amigos a Total Wine & More en el estado chico de Delaware. Viajamos por 20 minutos a Deleware porque este estado no tiene impuestos en los productos alcohólicos (en Pennsylvania, si). Mientras que mis amigos pusieron ocho casos de cerveza (30 latas en cada caso) en su carrito de compras yo serpenteé por el lugar buscando por mi vino argentino precioso.
El negocio fue un almacén de bebidas alcohólicas. Ellos llevaron más que 8000 distintos tipos de vinos, 2,000 distintos licores y más de 1000 cervezas. En los EE.UU. cuando pensamos de un negocio así, usualmente no hay mucho servicio personal. Pero en este lugar hay estaciones de información en cada pasillo que fue un problema para mi porque sabía de otras experiencias que estos negocios no les gustan cuando se sacan fotos (se piensan que sos de un negocio competitivo y estás sacando fotos de sus precios).
Después de conocer el lugar, empecé mi búsqueda de dos vinos que cuesta 10 dolares por cada uno – un blanco y un tinto. El vino fue organizado por tipos de vino y por región. La Argentina no fue incluida en las regiones, pero tenían un pasillo solo con Malbec. En su sitio, tienen 63 distintos tipos de vino de Argentina y 28 de Malbec.
Al fin, compré un Pascual Toso Malbec y un Phebus Chardonnay. En total, costaron 18 dólares y salimos contentos – mis amigos con su montaña de cerveza y yo con mi vino.
